Knowing who to target can make or break your business. The three key components to consider when choosing your target audience are:

  • Age group
  • Gender
  • Location

 

Age:

Age is a key component when selecting your target audience as it can change everything from how you advertise/promote your business to the style of writing and jargon you use on your website. If your target age group is a younger group then it would be best to promote on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat. Whereas if you are targeting an older age group, it would be best to advertise with physical things such as flyers or billboards. Although you can still target an older audience through social media, it won't be anywhere near as effective as it is with the younger age groups.

 

Gender:

In this case, advertising to these groups is very simple as you know what they like/dislike. As well as this, you can relate to them easily.
