Xero is fast becoming one of the main web based accounting packages used within New Zealand and Australia. The product offers a powerful API that allows a variety of different systems to integrate with it. The Xero architecture encourages core functionality to be enhanced through the leverage of this API.
The team at Koda have developed a solution that allows the integration with your Xero accounting program from your Drupal e-commerce website. Utilising the Ubercart online cart system the following functionality is supported:
- Allow an order raised on the website to be created within Xero as an invoice
- Utilise the website for order fulfillment process (order received, payment pending, payment received etc)
- Once payment is received via your payment gateway (DPS, PayPal, Poli etc), the Xero order is set to "paid" automatically.
- Where a payment is being made against a web order by bank deposit or bank transfer, once the transaction is completed in Xero, either through manual or automatic reconciliation, the related order in the website is set to a status of “Payment received”
The integration with your Xero accounting system streamlines the payment reconciliation process for your online store.
It is interesting that similar functionality for other E-commerce platforms can cost a user $70+ a month to take advantage of. Once again the benefits of Drupal open source functionality help keep the costs associated with enhancing your online presence to a minimum.

The Koda team would be happy to discuss options associated with Xero integration, the functionality can be added to existing Drupal websites or incorporated within a new eCommerce website build.
