The Digital Evolution: Three areas.

  1. Ecommerce B2C and B2B performance

With changes of working from home and lockdowns Ecommerce managers found images with prices were not enough - and so ecommerce designers are in overdrive on UX. The big jump in the last two years with the volume of Delivery Purchases and Click and Collect will continue to increase. The focus is now more specific features of the web design UX, not just for B2C but B2B. And not just for Desk Tops but more for Laptops, Tablets and especially Mobile where we saw many UX studies focus right down to thumb movements. Features to assist navigation such as breadcrumbs, recently viewed items and associated products all got much more attention to assist conversion rates. Top sites also moved up to video experiences, chats, image search and realtime information, moving away from the traditional catalogue ecommerce sites. 2022 is continuing the ecommerce refinements further with some starting to look at VR experiences though we expect a slow up take with 3D experience a little way off.

  2. Integration of Applications for real time speed

integration of Applications has resulted from the increased pressure ecommerce has put on the supply chain. Demand for real-time Integration of Applications is most requested. Working from home and requirements of these has meant Digital systems need to know what each system is doing in real time. Over selling of stock that shows as available online but was sold elsewhere is a great concern for businesses, letting customers down and then having to wait sometimes months for orders. Businesses with entry level ecommerce systems with multiple plugins are a recipe for trouble. 2022 sees companies look to future proofed systems that can integrate through application portals, connecting everything from POS to Freight Software with ERPs, Stock, Intranet and Accounting Systems in between. Utilising Headless CMS's for speed of information is the way forward.

  3. Remote Training Applications assisting performance

Learning Management (LMS) and Training Systems continue to become more applicable to wider audiences. The LMS was the domain of education institutions, then HR for compliance; now with so many people in remote working situations Training and Performance software is a necessity. The LMS can be customised to be the ultimate Performance Training System. Learning has changed so remote connections are important, as seen with most high performance sports teams fully utilising LMS systems. Like sports teams, business teams require customised, easily edited LMS systems for each individual work place and will continue to be popular in 2022.
